Vaal Triangle Places of interest
The Vaal triangle has lots to offer, especially along the river banks. We would like to mention a few places of interest,
and focus on the river frontage, which would be something to bear in mind when booking your Houseboat vacation.
We have annual events like the Vaal River Carnival featuring the Farmula 1 power boat racing. For the racing enthusiasts
we also have the annual Ice Block Challenge. You dont need to be a seasoned boat racer to take part, anyone with a speed
boat, rubber duck or Jetski can take their chances and win fabulous prizes. Both races are a spectator spectacular.
Spring festival at Stonehaven on Vaal is great for music fans. They host a huge concert featuring popular SA talent.
Stonehaven also has a quaint pub and river view restaurant open 7 days a week. All sporting events can be viewed with a
great atmoshpere at this Vaal Triangle place of interest.
Old school pubs like the River Palace will get the juices flowing. We have had many a party night with the River Palace crew!
Tasty burgers and reasonably priced.
Unique to our area is the Vaal River Wine route during the winter months. Wine estates from all around South Africa partner
with popular venues in the Vaal Triangle to showcase their wines. Every Saturday and Sunday during the wine route period,
wine tasting and sales at really cheap rates are available to the public. Each venue offers great specials, be it tasty luncheons or accommodation packages.
Wine lover? Even though the wine route only takes place two months of the year, we do have a wine master in town.
We can arrange for a wine pairing dinner cruise on board the houseboat. The presentation is kept light and at the same time
very informative to guests looking to learn more about wine and what food should be eaten with it.
For those who dont own their own speed boats and would like to ski or tube, there are water sport companies operating from
the two main hotels along the river.
Emfuleni golfing estate and Riviera on Vall Country club have great golfing greens and facilities for the gents who insist on going
nowhere without their golf clubs. Ladies, dont despair! There are various hotels and resorts that offer great spa treatments.
To name a few, we have the Zorgvliet Spa, Emfuleni day Spa and Annona day Spa at the Waterfront country lodge.
Emerald Resort and Casino is a great day outing and an important place of interest in the Vaal Triangle, offering entertainment
for adults and kids alike. Along with the casino they have a selection of wine and dine restaurants, aqua dome, putt putt, game
drives, ten pin bowling, game arcade and much much more.
During the summer time Riverside Hotel have a festive pool deck party every weekend. River Rascals will keep the kids busy
with all day entertainment while the parents enjoy a cold beer pool side along with a traditional South African braai and trendy
Dj playing in the back round.
December holiday is always buzzing with entertainment. The river in particular is jammed packed with boats, corporate functions
and holiday makers. The vibe is awesome!
Just cruising on the Houseboat with fabulous views of the river is usually enough for guests. The Vaal River reservoir has a rich
history, which staff on board can enlighten you with. "Old and new money" estates along the river is pleasing to the eye and
compliments the natural surroundings.
Although a "catch of the day" will not be provided on the menu we do have rods and equipment for fishing enthusiasts.

All the above can be accessed from the Houseboat, we dont think you will want to get off the boat, but if you do, all these facilities
